Welcome to the future

Learning English in the 21st century means so much more!

The Project

VR

Students learn English using Virtual Reality.
They become the actors of their learning
in a task- and project-based approach.

4C

Students collaborate & communicate
They are creative & use their critical thinking skills in a European setting

Motivation

We believe that this approach will trigger motivation & student engagement, thus making learning an experience rather than a chore.

TIMELINE
2016 - 2021
Project Design
This project was designed from summer 2016 to 2017. In 2017, we applied for the required funds for the PhD thesis and the project was selected to be an "incubator project" by the French Department of Education.
2017-2018
Preparation
This was our trial run to make sure our learning activities were adequately prepared on both a pedagogical and technological level. Also, in 2018, the PhD student Céline Meyran-Martinez joined our team and the research questions were defined.
2019-2020
Experiments & Studies
Year 2 will be the final year of our project. We hope to be able to have students work on all three activities. There will be some more research-oriented activities and the thesis will be completed.
2016-2017
Trials
From summer 2017 to summer 2018 we experimented with the technology and tried out various ideas. This led to the creation of the learning activities by Sabine Aligé & Stephanie Wössner.
2018-2019
Implementation
This was the first year we had students work with out learning activities. This allowed us to make last minute adjustments and tweak our setup a little. That year, the first experiments were conducted. However, the measures taken due to Covid-19 made it impossible to finish all three learning activities. We do have results for the first two, though.
2020-2021

Learning Activities

In order to allow our students immersion in & interaction with their learning adventure, we have created three learning activities that help them embrace this uncharted territory of learning.

Our activities can be downloaded & adapted to other languages or groups.

Examples

Our students have done a great job working on their projects. We will add new examples as we continue our journey on the road to VR and better learning.

Stay tuned & enjoy!
